We landed in Nice, got the car and shot off along the coast. A quick stop just outside of Nice for lunch and breakfast supplies for the next day. We had coffee, a stroll along the seaside and a quick dip in the ocean in Cannes. And at St Raphael we stopped for dinner, only to realize that we really had to adjust our "eating pattern".
We were starving some what after six and restaurants didn't open until seven. So after fourty minutes of horrible waiting, we finally got dinner. But it was amazing and well worth the wait. My (two!) fantastic crepes, the view over the harbour, the company and the beautiful sunset made it an almost magical start of our trip.
As the start of our mini coastal road trip took longer than expected, we decided to take the motorway straight "home". This proved to be a bit more exiting then one might expect. We got to experience pouring rain, thunder, lighning and passed a car crash.
The last part, of finding our house in the dark following hand written directions, proved interesting but definitely not impossible.
These last few days we have seen parts of Arles and done some proper grocery shopping. We've had a barbecue (with some duck of course), multiple visits to our pool, dinner on the village square, and a trip to Pont du Gard for some ancient culture and a swim in the river.
We were supposed to see a city of ruins today, but it was way too hot, so we've been by the pool and in the shade by our house all day. Now we're off on a jog to the village center to look at the thursday market.
Lots of love!
